Capitano, a Bold New Flavor in Kontopouli

On the central square of Kontopouli, already home to Massa Ciao, Lemnos’ top spot for serious meat lovers, a new neighbor has docked beside it: Capitano, a wine and cocktail bar with a distinctly Mediterranean soul.
The vision comes from Christos Bouroutis, the island’s undisputed king of meat, whose commitment to quality and flavor made Massa Ciao a local institution. Now, Christos turns his expert eye toward a new frontier: premium wines, artisan cocktails, and curated boards designed for slow indulgence. His choices are anything but casual, every bottle, every cured meat, every wheel of cheese has been painstakingly selected to reflect not only the best of Lemnos and Greece but also the broader Mediterranean spirit.
Capitano is Lemnos’ first venue of its kind: a haven for those who value craftsmanship in what they eat and drink. Weekly deliveries from Athens ensure the shelves are always stocked with exceptional wines (local and imported), aged prosciuttos, tangy salamis, rare cheeses, and rich, small-batch chutneys. Everything is available to enjoy on the spot or to take home for your own feast.
To celebrate the launch of this refined, atmospheric space, we collaborated on a photo shoot pairing Capitano’s tasting boards with the “Jazz” and “Funk” ceramic platters of renowned Bulgarian artist Neda Licheva. Known for her bold, expressive surfaces and vivid, modern palette, Licheva’s award-winning ceramics brought an unexpected edge to the bar’s elegant offerings.
The result? A visual and sensory celebration: where paper-thin slices of salami curl on top of vibrant glazes, where glasses of chilled Assyrtiko catch the light beside textured platters, and where two forms of artistry, culinary and ceramic meet in striking harmony.
A place like Capitano has long been missing from the picture until now. Arriving at exactly the right moment, it’s a destination for those who appreciate the finer things created by someone who knows exactly how to serve them.
For the connoisseurs of taste, this is not just a new spot in Lemnos, it’s the one you’ve been waiting for....
